Nope not a post about Britney...yet!

Oh, It's coming.... because you know me and the Britster...

First Thursday's soundtrack:

1. Wild, Wild, West ---Escape Club
This song kicks so much ass. It makes no sense, but I love it anyway. Australians love a good rock song with dumb lyrics.

2. Autobiography--- Ashlee Simpson
Don't judge me! She's a hell of a lot better than her sister. And say what you want, this is a great song.

3. Queer--- Garbage
1998 Anyone? Great "vamp" song. You can totally get your supermodel walk on to this.

4. Hazy Shade of Winter---Bangles
A good song because it's chicks rocking without that Susanna Hoffs singing.

5. She's Electric---Oasis
In my opinion, their best song. It's got their own sound and great lyrics. Nt that Beatles wannabe crap they tried to sell america 10 years ago.

Ok, I already posted this on CafeMom. If you've read it there just back-click and wait for the post on Britney.

Below I have posted an article that just about made me hurl my waffles. I don't tend to get on my hi-horse about much, because I'm relatively shallow, but this just makes my blood boil.
Dare I say, it even makes me feel like a feminist. My decision to become a lawyer is rooted in situations like this one. I can't speak for your community, but here in Dupage County, IL if a woman needs to get away from an abusive spouse or situation, the resources are next to nil. We have a service that will help you obtain a restraining order, and give you a list of shelters and lawyers. That's about it.
While some would argue that at least it's something, I think there is a huge demographic missing a helping hand. Personified by the disappearance of both Stacy Pertson and Lisa Stebic. In my opinion the middle class are desperately under-served socially. Long story short, because I could go on for days about this, women in the income bracket of 50K-75K are most at risk of dying by the hands of their spouse.
Why? Because in these households, a compelling percentage of them are one income, multi children ones. Women abused in this dynamic are not employed and probably have not been employed for at least 2 years, have 2 children under the age of 5, have no control over the finances, and have been isolated to the point that their support system is rather small. Combine that with the shame and secrecy domestic abuse brings along with it.
Most women would not want to subject their small children for a stint in a shelter, homelessness, and poverty. They feel their priority is to meet the needs of their children. It would be selfish to subject them to any hardship to benefit them. I don't think in these circumstances anybody could fault a woman that feels that way. Is it right? no. But only a mother would understand the turmoil.
I have to say, I became passionate about this cause about a year ago with the disappearance of Lisa Stebic. All of a sudden I became angry and sick of seeing mothers and women meeting their demise at the hands of someone who would rather "win" than seek a divorce. When did child support and alimony become so unbearable that murder was the only option?
So my life's mission had become to start a REAL foundation to get these victims the help they need. Housing, childcare, jobs, legal help, counseling, protection, etc. Not a piece of paper with names and numbers, but actual help. They can show up on the doorstep and we will take them in as sort of a "witness protection" program. Make life bearable and successful enough that they never feel that returning back to a bad situation is ever an option.
OK, Soapbox over. Read the article below and see if it insights a riot within you as well.

Former Illinois Sgt. Drew Peterson wants to divorce his wife who vanished more than three months ago, The Herald News reported on Thursday.
“Yeah, but I don’t think I can for a year or so,” Peterson told the newspaper about his divorce plans.
Stacy Peterson disappeared in October and is believed to be dead. Peterson is a prime suspect but insists he is innocent.
“She ran off with another guy,” Peterson said, according to the newspaper. “It’s that simple.”
“First we have to see if she shows up,” he told The Herald News. “Then I think we have to wait for a year.”
The ex-cop told the newspaper he would not mind getting legal advice from Chicago attorney Corri Fetman, who is expected to appear in Playboy magazine and has promoted her practice in racy billboard ads, according to the paper.
“If she wants to go out for drinks, give me a call,” he told The Herald News.
Peterson’s third wife, Kathleen Savio, died under mysterious circumstances in 2004, when she was found in a bathtub. Her body was exhumed for further forensic analysis, and officials have reclassified her death as a “homicide staged to look like an accident.”

I can't believe how that guy is just walking around. Did you hear about the "joke" about having someone win a date with him

See, I think I am genius and should have my own 1-hour cable news show. For God's Sake GERALDO is on the air still. But since even Fox News isn't calling I'll just spew the commentary and the awesomeness here...
